I am so happy for you!
Your commitment is to be applauded!
What a special and unique time for you!
Yet…let me clarify…
This engagement has no ring, although it is in fact, a luxury item. It has no wedding date, but it does have today’s date. There are no guests…only YOU. No spouse required!
What am I talking about?
The engagement that I am congratulating you on is the one that brings you back to yourself—in the moment. This special time is marked only by your commitment to unplug, to refocus, to use all 5 senses. The engagement that I am suggesting is about your relationship to yourself and to the world around you. Fine-tune that and guess what? You can count on the following 3 things happening:
Your energy and creativity will heat up and build up! When you don’t forget YOU, you nurture and love the essence of your being. Which in turn allows you to be present for everyone else. Think of this as a give back that gives back.
You will feel more balanced and centered. When you available for yourself, you can more easily make decisions, edit what you want and what you do not want in your life, and revamp your commitments to yourself.
You will automatically be using 3 power tools that are yours for the taking: choice, the current moment, and the legacy you most want to build in your life. Essentially, engaging with your heart and your inner voice will put you in control of the one thing you can…and that thing is YOU!
Tethered to technology many of us have forgotten how to interact. We are often so fixated on reaching our goals (our future) that we omit living the process to them (today) and then we end up frustrated and tired and overwhelmed. What I am suggesting is that you dig deep so that you stay true to your purpose and keep your alignment on target with the realities of your own daily successes. Engagement is not something to take lightly. It requires a promise. A promise that you make to be best YOU each day, on your calendar, and in your life-- that grounds you in the moment and clarifies the action steps you can do even when you feel that you cannot. This arrangement begins with two simple lists.
DIY ACTION TIP/TRICK:
Think about the things that are getting you stuck or unengaged. Where are you procrastinating or wandering off track?
Now make two lists: List one is all the things that are blocking or stressing you that you can control. List two is all the things that are blocking or stressing you that you cannot control.
Now rip up the second list that contains the things you cannot control. Throw it away. Seriously. Crumple it up and dump it!
Take the list of the items you can control and detail that out further. For every item on this list, detail 3 steps that you can take in the next 30 days that will allow you to take some form of action or accomplishment toward engaging with what you can do and moving you into a renewed promise to yourself to remain in motion, to seek the small successes, to rewrite the script.
